What parents ask before starting.
From what age and up to what level?
From primary school to CEGEP, in every subject: French, mathematics, English, science, history and the rest. We do not go beyond CEGEP for school tutoring. CPA exam preparation is a separate service.
Is it more expensive in my home than online?
No. It is $40 an hour in both cases, with no travel fees, and in-home tutoring is offered anywhere in Quebec. Depending on your area, matching may simply take a few extra days.
How long before I have a tutor?
You are called back the same day, and the tutor is assigned within 24 to 48 hours for online tutoring. In your home, allow a little longer, especially outside the major centres: we would rather take an extra day and propose the right person.
What happens in the first session?
It is a 30-minute assessment session, free and offered to everyone. The tutor places the student, identifies what is blocking them, and you receive a written report followed by a call. You then decide whether to continue.
What if the tutor is not the right fit?
You can ask for a change, up to twice. It happens and it is a problem for nobody: a good match matters as much as competence.
Can I choose the session times?
Yes. Times are set directly with the tutor, according to your availability. Evenings and weekends are common slots, both online and in your home.
Do block hours expire?
No. They have no expiry date, they are transferable, and one block can serve several children in the family. A started block is however not refundable: if you are hesitant, start by the hour.
Do you administer the exams?
No. We prepare students for ministry exams and for private school entrance exams, but we never invigilate an exam and we issue no official results.
Are the tutors vetted?
Yes. A criminal record check is part of the recruitment process, alongside tutoring experience and knowledge of the Quebec curriculum. To be confirmed the details of the procedure and how often it is renewed.
